Wastwater
The
Wastwater is designed for people in a hurry to get out on the water.
The build time of this hard chined boat is approximately 12 hours (plus
however long you wish to take on the painting). The Wastwater 16 is
wide and stable with a slight rocker providing a perfect compromise
between good tracking and manoeuvrability. It is ideal for exploring
wide rivers, canals and lakes. This is the perfect platform for bird
watchers and photographers yet doubles as an easily controlled fun boat
for children. It has watertight chambers behind full height bulkheads
which provide buoyancy for that extra margin of safety. It can be
paddled using either double ended paddles or Canadian style with single
paddles. It is perfect for car topping and is light enough to be
carried some distance to more remote waters.
For
those in a real hurry to get afloat we offer weekend supervised build
in our lake side workshop in Burneside We assist with the building of
your boat from the selecting of the wood to the strapping of a new
Wastwater 16 to your roof rack.

Mill
Creek
The Mill
Creek was designed as a wider, shorter, and more stable alternative to
the typical sea kayak. It offers the stability sought by nature
photographers, fishermen and bird watchers. It has a large cockpit to
allow easy entry and exit while the high coaming ensures a fairly dry
cockpit even without a spray deck. The Mill Creek's multi-chine hull
and relatively long waterline give a surprising turn of speed. All
three sizes track solidly even in big seas and strong winds. The Mill
Creek 13 is light and easy to carry on a roof rack whilst still
providing enough capacity for camping gear. The Mill Creek 15 is faster
and easier to paddle due to the longer waterline and narrower beam. The
Mill Creek 16.5 will carry two adults together with camping gear but is
still light enough to be paddled by one. It can be fitted with a
sailing system or a drop-in rowing unit.

Sassafras
The
Sassafras 12 is a boat so light that you can put it on your shoulder
and stroll casually down paths to normally inaccessible water. The
weight also makes it effortless to paddle. Although she can be carried
and paddled by a child this canoe is capable of carrying 225 pounds of
load. She tracks well, is easy to turn, and is stable enough for
fishing. There are watertight floatation compartments in both the bow
and the stern.
The
Sassafras is a traditional canoe built using modern building methods:
4mm okoume Lapstitch™ construction. She is trimmed with
sapele and mahogany. This kit can be assembled by a novice woodworker
in approximately 50 hours.
Her
slightly rounded hull offers more speed and responsiveness than many of
the plastic or 'glass boats you may have paddled. Her hull is slightly
rockered - not for manoeuvring in whitewater, but rather to reduce
wetted surface area - making her almost effortless to paddle. She has a
smooth or "well dampened" feel that is characteristic of good wooden
canoes.
