Product Description
This is a tandem kayak designed specifically for the Devizes to Westminster (DW) marathon race. For this 125 mile event the boat has to be light enough to carry on the 77 portages yet be strong and dry enough to cope with the tidal waters in the latter stages. The boat weighs just 14 kg including buoyancy chambers and steering system!
The kayak is a wood-core composite construction, making it durable, stiff and light. The wood is FSC and Lloyds approved and the epoxy coating is solvent free, making the whole boat as eco-friendly as possible, with extreme longevity, since any damage can easily be repaired.
This boat was selected by Bruce Duncan and Anthony Emmet for the final section of their epic tri in April 2011. They needed a boat that they could pick up after running and cycling 940 miles in the few days before the start of the DW leg of their journey and one that would accommodate Bruce's size 13 feet in training shoes. Congratulations to Ant and Bruce on finishing their epic journey just before midnight on 24th April 2011.
During the build, the boat should be tailored to individual requirements.
