Product Description

The Canadian canoe is a lightweight wooden open boat with a quick turn of speed and a fine bow, making it perfect for a couple to go day touring or for extended solo trips.

We love the boat. The boys keep saying how good it is in comparison to the plastic boats and cannot believe how responsive it is in comparison. This one is also very easy to paddle even with a headwind. We are really enjoying the boat and are very pleased with the way it paddles and everything. We have also had a lot of admirers!!

The Canadian canoe has built-in buoyant chambers for safety, with no need for additional buoyancy bags. The hull has a slight rocker and is Vee shaped at the ends for excellent tracking. It is stable and suitable for those new to canoeing and those who want a light open boat that is easy to paddle.

The Canadian canoe kit comes with attractive broken inwales and outwales in Ash. This change was introduced in 2014.

The basic boat is without seats or kneeling thwarts, leaving space for it to be fitted out to your own specification.

The Canadian canoe kit now includes as standard the protective glass layer previously available as an upgrade. This covers the outside of the canoe to give a greater abrasion resistance. The fabric is transparent when coated in epoxy thus the grain of the wood can be seen if the boat is varnished.

A detailed Canadian canoe build log (with photos) can be read on our forum.

The manual was very clearly laid out, specific and entertainingly tongue-in-cheek, and kept me on the straight-and-narrow during the epoxy phase. I had to make one phonecall to clarify what the seat braces were for and how to attach them. It was a pleasure to speak to a human being and be given the advice and guidance so quickly.

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience and unique challenge that brings me enormous pride and pleasure. Thanks again!

The kit includes:

The following additional options are available: seats, sailing thwart, mast step, mast, sail, leeboard, motor mounts.

Study manual

This is intended for pre-build study or to help with the decision to purchase. Reading this manual will help you decide whether or not you can build the boat. It is the 35 page manual that accompanies the kits. It describes all the techniques that will be used during the building and also a step by step guide to construction. Scale drawings are used throughout as well as photographs of critical jobs.

If, later, you decide to purchase the kit the cost of this printed manual will be deducted from the kit price.

This manual does not contain the plans of the panels with the cutting instructions so it is not possible to build the boat from scratch using only this manual.
