A 12 foot Car Toppable clinker style rowing boat.
It looks lovely in our pond!
This very light wooden boat looks as though it ought to weigh 4 times as much. It will accommodate up to four.
At 3.6 metres long it is not so Dinky but a much larger version is currently being developed.
This sturdy dory will give many years of service and still look beautiful.
Originally designed as a fishing boat for easy beach launching this version makes an excellent recreational boat that can be carried on a roof rack.
This Dory is a light boat with a high freeboard. The draught is only about 100 mm making it ideal for shallow water. Despite the shallow draught the boat tracks well thanks to an extended skeg. To draw admiring glances the boat has been designed in a clinker style.
There is a buoyancy chamber fore and aft with a hatch for easy access.
The kit is for a rowing version although it is possible to fit a mast and rudder as can be seen in some of the photographs. It can also be fitted with a motor – we recommend a light electric one.
Despite the complex look of the boat it can be assembled in about 40 hours from the kit using very few tools and basic woodworking skills. This boat is built using CLC's patented LapStitch™ joints which means that the result is a remarkably stiff and strong hull that has the appearance of traditional lapstrake or clinker planking.
The kit includes:
This is intended for pre-build study or to help with the decision to purchase. Reading this manual will help you decide whether or not you can build the boat. It is the manual that accompanies the kits. It describes all of the techniques that will be used during the building and also a step by step guide to construction. Scale drawings are used throughout as well as photographs of critical jobs.
If, later, you decide to purchase the kit the cost of this printed manual will be deducted from the kit price.
This manual does not contain the plans of the panels with the cutting instructions so it is not possible to build the boat from scratch using only this manual.
An electronic, non paper, version of the study manual above that can be viewed only using Adobe Reader.
After credit card authorisation the file will be sent to the email address put on the order form. The file is about 950 KB and takes about 30 seconds to download on slow broadband.
