Applying tallow to leather oar collars will help to preserve the leather by preventing it from drying out and making it water resistant. It will also provide lubrication between the leather and the rowlock.
Leather oar collars last ten times longer with a biannual application of tallow.
It can also be used to lubricate the rowlock shaft to reduce wear on the socket and to reduce squeaking. It has wide application as a marine lubricant, especially for traditional boats and accessories.
This set includes a tin of tallow and a smaller tin of mixed tallow and beeswax for the top coat. Instructions are also included to help you maintain your leather oar collars.
